I did an interview on Neoliberalism's Demons:

Yes, neoliberalism is a thing.

Just told a friend that Bluesky is slow so far, maybe worse than Mastodon -- but at least people aren't trying to have Meaningful Dialogue.

A hypothesis: many TERFs are Boomers who watched a ton of M*A*S*H reruns and view Klinger as the archetypal trans person

The main topic on Bluesky currently appears to be the announcement of a new female CEO of Twitter. None of the posts on the topic are funny.

It will be rolled out this summer.
It’s not red.

I don't know how to talk to someone who saw the pictures of Feinstein being wheeled into the Senate as anything other than viscerally upsetting.

One sign of a healthy, dynamic society is the existence of a gerontocratic elite whose members cling to power till their very dying day.

Few things make me angrier than the new found "obvious truths" of writing pedagogy that people have made up off the top of their heads to tell themselves that students' use of generative AI will be fine and good.
Quote Tweet
For the life of me, I do not know why we would want to depersonalize writing. I very much wish for the opposite for students. Writing should be appropriate to the occasion, of course, but also it should be deeply personal. How else will students get invested in writing?

I love how many people suddenly become prison abolitionists after a police shooting or vigilante killing.

If I saw Trump walking down the street, I would simply do a citizen's arrest to keep him from destroying democracy.

Supreme Court has 44 argued cases to decide between now and the end of June and is way behind its historic ruling rate.
For the first time in a couple of weeks, some rulings are expected this morning at 10. Stay tuned...

I love these moments. My tweets are so good that people are liking them purely on spec, before they've even seen them.

Setting a norm that you can kill a homeless person without even being charged seems like a negative systemic change.
Quote Tweet
You could charge Jordan Neely’s assailant but it would do nothing to improve systemic response to homelessness or pervasive attitudes about unhoused people. Justice for Jordan requires radical change in systems and culture.

The first AI-written show should be about Afghan girls who discover #BlackGirlMagic and use it to fight the Taliban.

Life is nothing but disappointments. When you’re a kid you can’t wait to grow up, only to learn that adult life is nothing but pain. You work hard. You have nice things. You have no one to share it with. You’ve neglected your personal life. But who’s always been there? Nintendo.

Hence why it's so absurd (although also unsurprising) that corporate DEI retreats became the model for the so-called racial reckoning after 2020. Doomed to failure before it even began, because the whole point of those things is to impede the enforcement of the Civil Rights Act.
Quote Tweet
this kind of thing reveals an uncomfortable truth about campus DEI infrastructure, i.e. that it exists to protect the university (from civil rights liability) not the students. it's not surprising unscrupulous admin would try to wield it to protect other interests.
