Hi Neuro-twitter! Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to add noise to a drifting grating, that isn't manipulating contrast?

Two monks were arguing while looking at a hotdog. "The hotdog is a sandwich," argued one monk. "No, the hotdog is not a sandwich!" insisted the other monk. Huineng was passing by, and remarked, "It's your minds that are sandwiches."

Tom Nagel's anecdote of The Spider In The Urinal is a superb pirce of 'literary' writing indeed - 'short-form' summaries that open newspaper op-eds or feature in popular tv show dialogue just can't do it justice

After a lecture at Caltech by the famed mathematician Mark Kac, Richard Feynman said: "If all mathematics disappeared, it would set physics back precisely one week." Mark shot back: "Yes, I know that week. It was precisely the week God created the world!" Forever a classic

The axiom of choice says that given any collection of bins, each containing at least one object, it is possible to make a selection of exactly one object from each bin, even if the collection is infinite. It has shocking consequences... but so does its negation! (continued)

I'm having trouble finding the original quote, but I think he said "all interesting equations are lies" - the point being that equations of the form x = x are true but completely boring. Only those that assert the equality of two *different* things are interesting.
