Sorry, I keep thinking this. Bugs me. I'm a dude and there are some dudes who are big and scary and I shouldn't make friends with. There are homeless people who are female. Saying all women get a pass from befriending any homeless seems wrong.
Women have a lot more to lose from befriending strangers in general - no matter what gender the strangers are, or how large they are physically.
