I hope it will. The fact that it was launched as a lone-man project doesn't seem a great start. It'll get interesting when Mongo, Confluent et. al. join it.

To be up front, I don’t intend that it should be a one man show. I just found myself knee deep in thoughts and research, and wasn’t sure how else to get it out into the world. Nothing would make me happier than to find people to collaborate with.

I think something similar to The TODO Group, but from a community PoV makes a lot of sense. It doesn't need to be very formal nor process heavy, but it would be nice to have some grouping of us readily available ;)

@lcooney has it right. It's not so much that it would be group that doesn't become an OSI affiliate - right now, there remains a question of "what would it do?" I think we need to draft a set of social contracts, that cover all the different aspects of OSS communities.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -
And if I just sit alone in my corner, I'm going to do just that. :) But they won't be very good, because while I have a strong point of view, and a lot of perspective, I don't have anywhere close to the perspective of the larger group.

One question I think we should answer: do we want to also build social contracts for things we don't think are sustainable? If our goal is clarity for the industry, consumers, and businesses, I think we probably do.
