Saying Trump and Hawley were wrong does not mean you get to turn around and pretend that it’s more dangerous for Democrats to want to make it easier to vote than for Trump’s state level allies to take more direct control over election outcomes.

@baseballcrank didn't voice opposition to Hawley/Cruz and Trump at the time, which isn't what I meant. I meant that he denounced them but then spent 2021 defending laws premised on them being correct.Show this thread -
Which, in terms of practical politics, puts him squarely in their camp, actually. Lets him get a bit of plausible deniability, and then turn around and spend what credibility he gains on the exact same project that they were pursuing. I think that's pretty clearly what's happened
