Freedom isn't guaranteed. It is a prize to be won, it is a privilege to be guarded, it is condition that demands sacrifice. Brexit is no longer a state of mind, it is now a way of life.

Peter Hitchens is indeed favour of a robust and sound legal process. His books on the matter make that much clear

Let's hope that this concert of English speaking nations leads to a proper historical re-evaluation of the policies of Joseph Chamberlain which were not protectionist in a broad sense but which were instead free trade by other means.

Again that's fair enough but major media outlets should allow this debate. I don't expect it from the BBC which is why I am pleased that allowed such a debate to be had this morning. Hopefully more to come

This is true but at some point it becomes a matter of principle

That's fair enough but let's at least have the debate, one that is long overdue.

Then there is the argument of cost. I'd rather have a magic money tree for schools than for imprisoning terrorists for life

Nigel Farage nails it here "If you have committed or planned to commit mass murder, you've got the virus of jihadism. These people should never be let out of prison, But of course, political correctness stops us from doing this"

Some, including Peter Hitchens would argue that this is far less humane than hanging

There's a far greater risk of allowing killers free so that they might kill again. This is especially true given the technological advances in forensics

I'm not opposed to that but there are certain crimes which can be deterred by capital punishment

Indeed. I'm surprised that anyone is surprised

Anna is "in tune" with the fishing communities and coastal regions... ;) (and she wonders why she was voted out)

This is yet another example of why the jury system that Blair tried his best to abolish must be strengthened. Ordinary people have a lot more common sense than many barristers

1.5 million marched against your illegal war when he and Tony Blair entered the UK into war. Please don't lecture anyone on morals, values, ethics or democracy when you have the blood of millions of people on your hands.

How is free trade with the Commonwealth racist?

No because they lost. Celebrating a victory is one thing, marching to overturn a settled democratic vote is quite another
