Joshua trees are a threatened species. @blmnv, how can you justify this reckless disregard of the need to preserve them? Appalling and irresponsible.
Yes, Joshua Trees face many threats including habitat destruction and impacts from climate change, but they are not currently a federally listed species. There is an effort afoot to change that though it has not been successful:https://www.eenews.net/stories/1060951147 …
Where in Nevada?
there's a development project in yucca valley (near me in the high desert) and they recently counted 100+ joshua trees on a property to be developed, less than half were assessed as 'viable' for transplanting... what happens to the others no idea, probably just death...
Public land?
"Nevada mines produced $7.8 billion worth of minerals in 2018. Mining taxes were paid on less than a third of that amount."https://www.nevadacurrent.com/2019/07/09/a-real-new-nevada-would-fix-its-daffy-mining-tax/ …
These people know the cost of everything but the value of nothing.
What’s the name of the mining company killing the Joshua trees?
