To the "...people spending hours on code reviews... or who put effort into debugging mysterious issues to fix problems before money is put at risk, or who are working on a hundred other tasks that would only make the news if they weren’t being done." - Thank you.

You can create a curriculum or run a program, but you can't teach persistence. You made this happen and we will be better because you are here. Let the real work begin.

@ all bitcoin companies ! wants to do the work of finding, upskilling and matching promising African developers with Bitcoin companies 👯 If you want to focus on building rather than (boring, exhausting) hiring, let us know what you're looking for!

Who is interested in hiring pre-vetted interns/junior devs w/ a strong background in Bitcoin philosophy and Bitcoin/LN foundations? The @QalaAfrica curriculum is designed to train the skills that are most in-demand. If you are hiring jr devs, we'd want to learn about your needs. twitter.com/gladstein/stat…

2/ 50 million satoshis to @bernard_parah, @actuallyCarlaKC, Tim Akinbo, and @ihate1999 for the creation of qala.dev, a program to help train and grow new Bitcoin developers in Nigeria and wider Africa. Special thanks to @paxful for making this gift possible.

Bitcoin doesn't have a centralized foundation which means aspiring Bitcoin devs must demonstrate more proof of work than other projects to get funded. It's lumpy, but the community has recognized the need and dev funding is now trending in the right direction. (5/6)

Climbing the mountain can be lonely. PR merges were the wins. Kind comments on GitHub & IRC were fuel to keep going. So, congrats Jarol. You've gone 0 to 1, and Bitcoin is better because you are here. You've got a motor, kid. Can't wait to see what your ceiling is. (4/6)

There are no shortcuts to becoming a productive Bitcoin Core contributor. Jarol simply put in the work. No residency. No internship. No podcast. Instead, he sat in his mom's basement for months reviewing PRs, finding ways to add value, making mistakes, & course correcting. (3/6)

Since then he has put in under-the-radar work on the project. & stepped up to provide support & guidance. Jarol isn't a natural self-promotor and took a while to find a sponsor match, which gave him ample time to demonstrate his work ethic & dedication. (2/6)

Since he arrived on the scene, no one has put as much effort into Bitcoin Core mentorship as . Brink will benefit Bitcoin immediately, but more consequentially, I'm excited about the impact this will have on future contributors that we have yet to discover.

I'm often asked what's the best way to get admitted to and prepare for a Residency. The study-groups are what we will use for pre-work for the next residency and the curricula are living textbooks of the best resources we could find sorted by topic. PRs welcome!
