Sounds like Republican Senator Pat Roberts is retiring, which could be great news for Democrats. Kansas isn’t as red as it used to be after ex-Governor Sam Brownback damn near ruined the state. Laura Kelly winning the governorship is proof. Dems would have a shot here.

@PatRoberts is a disgraceful human being that has hurt many Kansasans. Good riddance, please retire.

Unfortunately no. He's doing a @JeffFlake - i.e. not seeking re-election in 2020, meaning Open Seat (no incumbent).

In Nebraska, I would hear his way of governing referred to as “Brownbacking”. Basically meant ruining your state.

"[R]etiring" as in gong away now...or "retiring" as in not seeking reelection whenever is current term is up?? I sure hope it's the former. Kansas has a Democratic governor now. She can appoint whomever she wants to fill the vacancy... from 53-47 to 52-48? It's a start.

You know nothing about politics if you think Kansas is going to elect a democrat to the senate. Kansas has elected democrats to the governors mansion before ( remember Selibus?) However they haven’t elected a democrat t the senate since the 30s.

I’m in a red state in the Midwest. Kansas is 2 hours away. What I’m saying is you are acting so smart here, talking about pithy comments in your pinned tweet. Mainly you’re retweeting Trump. You don’t know grass-roots trends in Kansas any more than @adamcbest, yet you say you do.

Actually I’m a researcher of political science at UCLA focusing on American Politics. I’m very well aware of the politcal histories of trends of states including Kansas and Nebraska.

That’s great! I I would love to follow you if you generated more of your own content, including pithy arguments, rather than retweeting Trump so much.

States like New York and California pay out much more than they get back. Have to subsidize Conservative failures like Mississippi, Alabama and Kansas. Thanks for playing.
