Agreed. I didnt take away anything racist/offensive from this situation. He had to work with those ppl to serve the public. If anything that's a good thing, we need someone who can actually work with others.

Unfortunately it now seems he's failed to grasp another important part of working with people, which is that when they take something you said the wrong way, even if you think that was unjustified, you're going to have to apologise, not blame everyone else! Sigh

I have to agree with you. I do not support Biden but I support the point he was trying to make. In the past, people with diametrically opposed views could work together for the benefit of the country. Now we just have hate, vitriol, no respect, no ability to compromise.

I think it would be OK to take the position that some people are just too extreme to accept and work with, and if today's black candidates baulk at doing business with segregationists that's fair enough. But calling Biden's point racist seems like a straight misreading
