There is only one problem: the definition of crude in Mexico is different from that of the US. Using the right definition, New Mexico’s production is not higher than that of Mexico. Regardless, the shale story is still amazing

From what I remember of driving through the Permian a long time ago: donkey rigs and cacti in a windblown vastness. It's possible the fracking has worked in the US because it's usually on lands once considered waste. Part of the advantage of owning a continent.
