Actually this doesn't even work on its own terms - even progressive states have high rates by international standards, and Iowa has one of the lowest despite being a swing state rather than a liberal stronghold.

What she's actually picking up on is the provable impact of education and wealth on marriage and divorce rates, as well as a number of other factors like crime rates, public services and social capital.

It's silly anyway because the divorce rates in rich states like MA are far higher than they were in 1960. In any case I'm surprised she's talking about divorce rates at all since it's such a losing game for the feminist side
