This has nothing to do with rationing or socialized medicine. Parental rights isn’t even the main issue. The controversy is based on the UK’s absurd conclusion that bringing this poor suffering child to a world-class hospital for further treatment would be “unkind and inhumane”.

The only reason they won't allow the child to be transferred seems to be that they want to create a moral framework that justifies their decision in absolute terms in order for it not to appear to be about cost/rationing
