It's an amazing coincidence that all these complex issues about end of life care and the objective cruelty of prolonging a patient's life seem to be coming up in the context of a socialized health care system
Almost like the state has a conflict of interest here as the financier of healthcare and the ultimate arbiter of a child's best interest.

It would be far more ethical for the UK government to clearly state that it is not financially justifiable for the state to continue to pay for Alfie Evans and that his parents have the choice of moving him elsewhere at their own cost or letting him die at Alder Hey
