he probably is! time was (perhaps @1renist is old enough to remember) that a standard elite script led one along the path from undergraduate cad to respectable Dad — balanced parts of an integrated life
i am not sorry that this path should be closed off

we will never know how much of "cad" he actually was.... in the mean time we can show more respect for our Dads who are Doing Their Best.

respect them, perhaps, but discourage them from getting hopped up on persecution narratives

Why not both/and? Surely it could be the case that the root cause is a freak out about Roe but the means and tactics are those incubated among the university new New left? I agree he won't strike down Roe btw. Probably need a 6-3 majority for that if ever

the tactic of accusing an opponent of a (more or less plausible) crime is not unique to the New Left: and if taking sexual assault seriously is a mark of the New Left, call me Saul Alinsky

tbh i think the problem of sexual violence is bad enough that i don’t really mind if a few innocent dudes get swept away with the guilty — though of course the circus we have recently witnessed has nothing to do with justice at all

I’m extremely not okay with innocents being punished. You’re proposing a war on rape that would lack jus in bello. This is the logic of “collateral damage” and Hiroshima; it’s also the self-justification of the lynch mob.

it is decidedly not the logic of hiroshima (that would be the “kill all men” kind of argument): but of course any campaign will have some collateral damage
