I'm never going to make one of those "good conservatives to follow on Twitter" lists because I'm not very good and I'm actually fairly conservative.

I keep trying to figure out how the logic of "this guy basically fires off left-of-center opinions and is obsessed with Donald Trump but has the word 'Republican' in his bio so he's a conservative" works from people who wanted Joe Lieberman skinned alive for his heresies.

I am in favor of lower taxes, lower government, the end of legalized abortion, marriage as between a man and a woman, the protection of faith and its expression from the sovereign, the right of men and women to defend themselves and their homes, and minimal government spending.

I am fairly dismayed by the last few Presidential elections, not just for the winners, but for the contests themselves, including the issues in play, how the contests were perceived, and the fact that we basically elect emperors with precious little job experience as champions.

I believe that a Republic is the stablest form of government because it gives different dynasties and factions their own chances at power on a regular basis, and that direct democracy is a terrible idea for populations larger than 5,000 or so, regardless of any other factors.

Historically speaking Republics aren't the most stable form of government, though. What do you base your definition of stability on?
