It's obviously hard to get any reliable data on the percentage of Catholic priests who are gay, but it seems kind of clear that celibacy is less of a barrier to entry to the priesthood for homosexual vs heterosexual men since less of the former care about marriage/children
genuinely don't understand why people want to incentivize this sort of selection. What is the benefit? Is there something to be gained spiritually by ones church being stewarded by a disproportionately large percentage of gay men?

That being said conservative Catholics do seem to be sort of one-sidedly targeting church liberals for a problem that has probably been present in the Church since forever. It's not like pedaresty has been historically rare in all male institutions throughout history
