You don't just expect life to hand you great things because you happened to test as gifted in the the third grade. That's not really how it works.

No point in working hard as an Asian in America. You'll always be a third-class citizen and will never outcompete the slacker Asians who just stay local and inherit whatever family business.
-
Lol come on now, they do pretty well for themselves.

1) Adjusted for education, Asians do significantly worse than whites. Most Asians come to US high education and then only go downhill 2) the Asian averages dragged up by Indian-Americans (who are sometimes white-passing). Other groups do much worse.

There is basically 0 payoff for an Asian-American to work hard and go to a good school. Their classmates significantly outearn them to the point where slacking off and going to a local state school gives you the same financial outcome, but leaves u with better community network
-
Tbh I think that's true for most smart people of a STEM disposition (better to go to state school for undergrad and save money)

Engineering/tech is generally not a good path for Asians. Silicon Valley has fewer Asians in management than any other industry in America. Even law and politics better choices. Contrasts with widespread prevalence of successful South Asians.

This is an inappropriate response to the original post. The large %'age of Asian kids at elite schools isn't just a reflection of "Asian work ethic", it's also the outcome of extreme segregation of African American kids at the elementary and middle school level.
-
The chancellor isn't trying to punish Asian kids, he's trying to level the playing field of a publicly-funded resource
-
Asian Americans have a responsibility to understand and help atone for the economic discrimination that has happened to African Americans over generations. A lot of immigrants coming over don't know this history, but as we gain power in the economy, it becomes our responsibility.
-
There are a lot of African American and Hispanic workers around me who work multiple jobs, commute for hours, and still don't make enough. Cramming for an exam isn't the only way to show work ethic.
