    We're proud to have helped Tim live a safe life until his demise by natural causes. Through our wildlife security initiative, tenBoma, we ensure big tuskers like Tim are protected. Every individual animal matters in conservation—epitomized in the uniqueness of elephants like Tim.

    It is with sadness that we learn of Tim the elephant's death in Amboseli National Park. One of Africa's last big tuskers, he roamed a vast wilderness & is estimated to have lived 50 years—a milestone given threats he faced like human-wildlife conflict, poaching, & habitat loss.

  3. Live animal markets are perfect incubators for diseases. As the escalates, is no longer just a conservation issue. How many epidemics will it take before policies aren't based on wildlife’s economic value, but ecological value?

  4. 📍 Excellent news from South Africa: Rhino poaching has declined for the fifth consecutive year. 594 were poached in 2019, compared to 769 in 2018. There was also a more than 50% decrease in poached: 31 in 2019, compared to 71 in 2018.

    At this time, 40 koalas have been killed and 80 injured from the deadly bulldozing incident. Affected animals have been brought to wildlife centers, including a triage clinic that IFAW has been working to establish with Mosswood. More on the situation:

    Thanks to your generosity, we were able to donate enclosures for lorikeet parrots to Tweed Valley Wildlife Carers who rescue and rehabilitate wildlife in NSW. Affected by the , these birds needed to be kept safe & are now in the final stage of their intensive care. 💙

    Back in late November, we were introduced to Ember, a bushfire survivor found after the fires at Whiporie. After intensive treatment at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, she is now back with our partners to continue her rehabiliation & eventual release.

    Proud of our detection dog Bear for his work finding 10 live ! Bear was deployed to search for surviving koalas in the aftermath of the Upper Kandanga . When areas are declared safe, he is sent to look for injured & displaced koalas through the scent of their fur.
