Jessica Reavis, another League of the South member, got pulled away from the first fight but in the next one injured her pinky finger while trying the same "grab the bullhorn" move Woody had pulled earlier.pic.twitter.com/LBbcRRGxU3
A third, young white supremacist showed up and started yelling racial slurs apparently to get a fight started as quickly as possible. While he didn't seem to be part of any of the groups there, local neo-Confederate Robbie Butler was quick to jump in and defend him.pic.twitter.com/0vwV6SebvG
Surprisingly, in spite of the fact that at least one fight was blocking traffic in the street, when the cops showed up they merely told people to protest peacefully and then left within a few minutes.pic.twitter.com/A3ava4nJDc
Throughout the day, there were multiple times that people passing stopped to have a dialogue with the Confederates and/or the anti-racists, including one woman who wouldn't give her name that claimed to be doing a story about Jessica.pic.twitter.com/4kg9xyW5uE
I whittled down my nearly 4,000 photos from yesterday to these 100 that tell the story of what happened.https://flic.kr/s/aHsmLz9JL7
Thank you for documenting this futile display of hate and unsuccessful intimidation. Flying the flags of a war lost 155 years ago. There is a country full of interesting, diverse Americans living in the 21st Century. It’s beautiful but they’ll never know.
Excellent photos Anthony! They speak clearly of the racists and their ignorance about the HUMANS WHO ALL BELONG ON THIS EARTH!!
