First up, Constance Baker Motley, born and raised in New Haven, was an NAACP Legal Defense Fund lawyer at the forefront of major civil rights cases, including Meredith v. Fair and Brown v. Board of Education. Later, she was the first Black woman to serve as a federal judge. (2/2)
