The DOC’s number of released people is misleading. Of the 700+ people released, 333 of them were already at the ends of their sentences in March, which means they were due to be released irrespective of a pandemic. CT also added 342 new people into its prisons & jails last month.
The numbers do not show a plan for release, they show a lack of a coordinated response and a lack of urgent, safe releases to save people’s lives.
