The court ruled that parents who claim the state violated the federal Americans with Disabilities Act when terminating their parental rights must sue in state court, *even* when the state courts refuse to consider those allegations.

In 2005 & 2006, CT DCF seized Joey Watley & Karin Hasemann's children. Joey & Karin told the courts that although DCF was attempting to terminate their parental rights based on their perceived disabilities, DCF wasn't tailoring the services it gave them to those disabilities.

Joey & Karin sued DCF in federal court, represented by us, and alleged violations of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Yesterday, the court dismissed the suit. This decision is a blow to our clients & to parents with disabilities.
