I've written a new article covering the final issue preventing near-perfect emulation of the SNES: exact cycle-timing of the SNES PPUs (video generators.) I've also proposed solutions that are beyond my abilities, so this article is also a call for help.

So here is what you want: - Infrastructure as code - Version Control - CI/CD - Separation of Rollout and Activation <- THIS! - Proper Observability with centralized, structured logs - Good instant communication

Structured Eventlogs will help you to filter messages by code version ("Show me all messages in variant B of rollout 64fd32f that never appear when running variant A"), or other criteria ("Which messages appear since rollout 64fd32f that did not appear before").

Long time since I've posted something technical on my blog. I figured I should go back to the idea of converting some of the answers to technical questions I get to blog posts, so here we go:

Multiple threads: Time to patch your windows boxes. I'm watching the debate on whether or not this is urgent. If you have something worth protecting, allowing a flaw that subverts the trust system in Microsoft Windows is seriously, seriously bad. Patch.

Confirmed that is reading encrypted messages after they're decrypted since Android 10 upgrade. I can't uninstall GBoard. I'm gonna try Flexsy keyboard and see if that stops the suggestions or if this runs deeper in the Android stack.

    - here it is folks. The first sentence is key; this is not remote, not code execution, not "MS17-010 bad". Should you patch? Absolutely. Is it the end of computers as we know it? Lol, no, not even close.

I blogged about Mercurial’s journey to Python 3 and how the experience of porting to Python 3 has largely soured my perception of Python.

Honestly the takeaway here isn’t that parching is hard but that many IT MSPs are basically worse than inhousing and what you save in cost you burn in time and security
