Anyone who pays attention to me long term on here realizes that when I'm railing about white supremacy and privilege, I'm rarely talking to the Right. I'm almost always calling out the Left. Because the investment in confronting white liberal racism yields more.

My grandma simplified it best as far as governmental indigenous policies in her lifetime. Dems in office means assimilation policy. GOP in office means termination policy. We will resist them both.

I think people really just enjoy being deliberately reductive for a number of reasons. It's not that hard to discern the differences between the two and feigning ignorance on Dem/GOP differences, doesn't require the admission of being previously wrong on the subject.
-
Add to that a culture raised around Youtube or Twitter, where long, nuanced discussions are difficult or discouraged. That opens the door for reductive false equivalences. This false-equivalency nonsense makes you "look" reasonable w/o having to do a lot.

I'm convinced that the purpose of pushing 'both sides' is to make it a wash, obviating the need for any white men to be held accountable. At all.

Y'mean, given their record over the past 30, 40 years,
@TheDemocrats are still just some poor knob who was negligent about a campfire? ...and don't even get me started on that BLM-Was-A-Russian-Op horseshit they were spreading. Good faith, hell.pic.twitter.com/VO3jq9b3Da
