When that fact finally dawns on you, when you grasp that America has ALWAYS had enough money, the sheer malice of American politics comes into focus. Every political budget argument has always been theater on all sides.

When you realize that every debate about whether or not we can afford to save dying people or raise the minimum wage or ensure that all schools are adequately funded or that people don't live on streets... Every debate has depended on the fiction that America is strapped.

And I don't mean "if only we didn't spend so much on tax cuts and military hardware" I mean we could afford it all AND THE tax cuts and hardware.

And when that finally clicks, you have to ask yourself "If there's more than enough money for everyone to get what they want and have money left over, then why are we arguing about whether or not to help those who need?" Good question.

America "has" about 9.6 Trillion dollars. Only about 960 billion of that is cash. Most money is totally imaginary. America has as much money as it wants to have.

America would have all sorts of money if we ever got around to guillotining all the "patriots" soaking it for more funds for their offshor accounts and repatriated the money....

Money is not a scarce commodity. It doesn't grow on rich people. Money is a monopoly product of the government that issues it. Yes, we need to close tax havens, but not for the reasons you think.
