My heart is bursting. On the eve of my first child's birth, my dad - who's been in prison nearly my entire life - was granted clemency. He never intended harm, yet his crime devastated many families. My heart breaks for the families that can never get their loved ones back.

It’s not that his dad got clemency, that’s great news for him and for his family. It’s that this family crime story is the San Francisco DA’s whole raison d'etre for badly performing a job that requires prosecution and conviction.

Oh, I think all prosecutors are bastards. I'm not defending his father, either. It's the judicial system, and the prison system that I have a problem with.

35 years is too long for murder? Are you serious? 15-20 years is not life (go in at age 20 can get out by 35-40 and still have a full life ahead). Meanwhile the person they murdered will never come home. As far as being a driver, are the guilty only those that pull the trigger?

Forever is too long for murder victims. Especially when you're just at the wrong place at the wrong time and get killed by people like David Gilbert

If you or a family member was murdered, please record how many years the murder should be sentenced.

Tell that to the families of the officers and guard murdered. You’d feel the same way if one of those men was your father/uncle?
