Basically there is no one size fits all option, it ia about understanding each individuals cognitive limitations and cognitive strengths we are all different.

So teachers need to understand how children learn differently and be trained to adapt their teaching methods to adapt to each child's strongest learning abilities, and avoid their cognitive limitations.

My son also hasn’t had science in a year, as a third and now fourth grader. Is it still a subject?

Well science and science of reading aren't the same thing. Regardless, science is a subject. In my son's elementary school it wasn't a core subject which was shocking to me.

I agree, but to be fair, there is substantial evidence that a lot of US state secrets were sold to other countries under the table. Let's not forget John D. Rockafeller's quote, "I don't want a nation of thinkers, I want a nation of workers."
