The Truman Show Delusion is fascinating to me. This long read from The New Yorker is terrific, not just about this delusion, but delusions in general.
Mass delusions tend to appear in times of social change, and some people are more vulnerable than others.
The “vaccine injury” delusion fits this pattern, due to the politicization of the vaccine and the similar nature of the “symptoms.”
Notice that as the real-world impacts of COVID continue to come to stark and undeniable light, there is a hard press of deniers and anti-vaxxers flooding everywhere with counter-messaging including "vaccine injury" and stronger flu strains.
