Feeling Noob isn’t a problem for me - my most favorite moments are when I am the dumbest in the room or environment. In-fact, my most proud accomplishment, in my startup journey so far, has been - being the dumbest team member in the team I build

3 simple yet powerful indicators of rotting company culture: 1. Mgmt. never ever asks for feedback 2. Behaviors are based on optics creation, & opportunistic leverage rather than brutal honesty & clarity towards a vision 3. Human bottlenecks for a fake sense of importance

3/ In the software industry, privacy compliance is almost exactly in the same place. People don't have a cohesive view on what to do, everything is just painfully manual, & on spreadsheets. Although, if you really unpack the problem - it's just a lack of better tools that help

2/ Everything is so manual & inconsistent, and therefore both the results are ineffective & inconsistent. Often, time in an organization flows people don't even know what is wrong where especially when things are very cross-functional w.r.t problem identification & resolution

1/ A thread on compliance: 👇 Great! This article: makes me super comfortable about getting on planes now. Probably the root cause that compliance is so hard isn't that the actors are always negligent but the tools/technology to do so just completely sucks

Simple but powerful indicator of bad company culture: your boss/mgr. has never asked you for your feedback.

Improving access to opportunity and supporting geographic mobility are among the world's biggest challenges. We're running a bunch of billboards across California this week to support , the bill that would enable vastly expanded housing supply across the state.

This isn’t deep research presented in the article but some interesting environmental setting certainly existed at the lab acting as a catalyst for progress.

Article author attributes the success to MLA (mid-level abstraction): articulating objectives without being too abstract or being too specific. Too much abstraction => Ambiguity Too much specificity => Stifled Creativity. The modern of this seems to be OKRs.

🤯 “Cavendish lab under Ernest Rutherford in 1930s, was a small operation, but in a single 20-year period, researchers under his direction won at least eight Nobel Prizes in physics: more than all of France, all of Italy, and all of Japan combined.”

For me, my brain goes into this freeze mode, I can still doing meaningful work but more in an auto-drive mode rather than every moment of explicit thinking & self-debugging.

Wondering, if any of you exp the same? Are some people innately wired to be thinkers or is it a muscle you have to exercise, otherwise it atrophies?

Either way the intellectual simulation for me seems to be highly co-related to reading for me. Conclusion: find time to read daily. Do you guys observe the same?

When I was reading I had a lot of interesting thoughts & insights surface. In fact, sometimes insights gathered has nothing to do with the reading material. But some associative connection was formed in my head. I wonder if the brain is in hyper-connection mode while try to read.

Out of the all the wonderful things I learnt - one prominent realization I had was - I had the least amount of interesting recordings or insights journaled in the weeks I was not reading. Reason being lazy or extremely busy with some work.
