"People for the first time have wanted to see a more direct involvement of the Federal Govt in responding to these national disasters. I will happily concede that there is a very new appetite, a very new expectation for that to occur,"@ScottMorrisonMP on the bushfires #auspol

“This is obviously affected by the broader changes in climate. There is no lack of acknowledgement of that. You'll find that in all the government's policy -- statements. The response has been coordinated and resourced at the state level,”

"There is obviously a need for a national review of the [bushfire] response… it must be done in consultation with the states & territories. Australians have a reasonable expectation that any commission of inquiry would cover the full gambit of issues.,”

Whenever Scott Morrison mentions that Australia has the most solar panels on homes ... and? That’s not anything you’ve done. You’re a Liberal - you should know - that’s private enterprise and individual choice. Nothing to do with the government, mate. Jog on.

AND he can’t even look you in the eye and admit that many of his own party are putting out LIES about arson and climate-denial. Sounds to me like Morrison has no confidence in his own control of the party-room. Or else, he’s the leader of the right-wing in that room.

@abcnews@ItaButtrose@insiders This is not my ABC anymore if this is what you condone as a legitimate political interview. -
Certainly not the ABC that was respected. This is a soft serve MillsnBoon version.

Morrison seems to be allowed to waffle on & on how great he & his party are with little or no interjection. What has happened with journalists in general, are being dumbed down? They seem to only be after the headline. They no longer have the skills to dig deep into the issues.

It may be called an 'interview' but as every good marketing manager knows, this is just an opportunity to get back on message, profile the brand and deflect attention from any negative impact the campaign may have gathered in earlier stages of roll out.
