Good morning and happy 1st workday of 2019. I'm looking forward to all things #cdnpoli as we hurtle toward this year's election. One thing I'll be following is the politics of climate change, a debate that has so far centred on the Liberal carbon price.https://www.thestar.com/politics/federal/2018/12/27/the-year-in-carbon-politics-and-what-to-expect-in-2019.html …

Good piece. Beyond C-tax & pipelines, I also expect climate lawsuits to occupy a bigger part of the debate (youth climate lawsuit in QC, likelihood of municipal lawsuits against oil companies, broader policy implications of feds using POGG in SK lawsuit over C-tax).

The Peace, Order and Good Goveenment clause in the constitution. Allows federal govt to act in areas of provincial/overlapping jurisdiction

The carbon tax will kill Canada. Protests in paris made it very clear. Canada will do the same protests. I will be there.

#CarbonTax is just that a #TaxGrab by @JustinTrudeau that will do little for #climatechange

One has to be truly dense to yip, bitch, and moan about a “tax grab” that actually puts money in the pockets of the taxpayers. #cdnpoli

It will be clawed back at tax time. It is an #income #Redistribution #scheme We need a real plan; #Netzero building codes, & green initiatives for business. Remember that Canada contributes less than 2% to global warming.

What we contribute to global warming isn't relevant to whether or not we need to do what we can to reduce OUR footprint. And how do you figure that the money will be clawed back at tax time, since it is through our taxes that we get it back?

Not CARBON TAX, its called TAX GRAB, happens when you have no pennies left in the pot. Old saying. Haven't got a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out. Liberal/NDP agenda spend more TAX everyone but the rich. JUST LOVELY. VOTE CONSERVATIVE.

The economic argument for $’s leaving communities might be part of the campaign too. The Region of Waterloo: 87% of $2.1 billion leaves our Region annually for power we could produce ourselves.pic.twitter.com/aDDSyCj64p

Taxation is everyone's business. The money is not the governments to take. Their job is not to rape and pillage but to govern. GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER. Just because you won an election does not mean the door to the vault just opened. FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY.

The seeds of a whole new season of grassroots resistance were also planted in 2018. I keep talking to people online and in person who have never been to a protest but plan to come out this year. Let's get wild.
