        As a historical matter, this is true! But it is a dangerous truth whose deployment is irresponsible more often than not. In general, one should be anti-riot, anti-rebellion, anti-violence. The American Revolution is the (putative) exception that proves the rule.

        What if I told you rioting for good things is good, and rioting for bad things is bad? It's kinda like how John Brown was good, because he fought to end slavery, while Robert E. Lee was bad, because he fought to preserve it.

        Pulling selective quotes *of a defense attorney in a self-defense case* during a time when trials were public spectacles, and attributing them to society as a whole is disingenuous. What I say in courtrooms, in defense of my clients, has one purpose and only that purpose.
