...the obvious question is: what is the actual agenda of the intel officials leaking false and/or misleading information, & why are some prominent journalists carrying their water, instead of asking this obvious question?
NYT now reporting that @jimsciutto's core claim -- that CIA extracted a Russian source in part due to worries about "Trump’s handling of intelligence -- is bunk. Yet one more Russiagate "bombshell" turns out to be a dud. Between today's CNN one and @lawrence's recent claim about Russian oligarchs co-signing Trump's bank loans, there's at least a little progress: they're being exposed as fraudulent at a faster pace than before.
In yet one more twist, this supposed high-level Russian source who was able to capture Putin's orders -- & whose info formed basis of critical US intel claims about Russian interference -- has been reportedly living in the DC area under his own own name.

The article also seems to suggest that the core claim of the Jan 2017 ICA, that Putin personally ordered an interference campaign on the 2016 US election to help Trump, is based almost exclusively on this single source that even the CIA doubted. Let's call him Curveball 2.0.
