RIGHT? Imagine if actual human beings were given even a fraction of this money to assist with housing or education. Our planet hosts some real big A holes, and it really sucks.
It's hard to overstate the moral vacuum required to have $43 billion available to you and decide to use it to purchase a social media platform to ensure you're allowed to shitpost without consequences instead of addressing poverty, climate change, or public health initiatives.

i am not moved by the hyperbole and histrionics about this. we really have no clue what will happen here, but it could be that the overt and egregious shadow banning, throttling and cancelling of voices ends. yes this public square gets louder - but that's just real man.

and one might argue that politics may well function better if not shaped by corporate/empire narratives. if the voice of the people was heard better. there is reason no people-centric party/entity holds power in the west. yes ugly voices freed, but also socialist ones.

I'm most concerned that he will use this to drown out the political voices of those he disagrees with. You have elections coming up in November that many on the right are planning to cheat in. They have made it clear this is not about democracy but about them regaining power

Imagine how fantastic it’d be to have that kind of money. Clean water on reserves, vaxxes for 3rd world countries, decent, affordable housing, improved $ & support for the handicapped & seniors, more spaces in nursing programs (with stipend)… It could do SO much good!

The man has created one of the greatest climate change-focused companies in the world (Tesla), and throughout his companies employs almost 100,000 people allowing them to provide for their families...come on

He didn't create Tesla, he doesn't create anything but chaos. He's just ruthlessly good at manipulating capitalism for his own personal gain & cynically rebranding himself. As to employees, ask the folks who worked for Tesla up to 2016-18, or in 2020, or now in China.
