    4 Jan 1738 to SILAS DEANE born . From , Deane served as a delegate to the 1st & 2nd Continental Congress. He later served as envoy to with Ben Franklin and Arthur Lee.

    3 Jan 1777 Col John Haslet, C/O of the 1st Delaware Regiment, killed at the Battle of Princeton. When Gen Mercer was killed, Haslet rallied the men when he was shot and died from his wounds. Served at White Plains & Long Island.

    In 1776, legend is that Von Donop did not support other Hessians in , b/c of a pretty widow in Mount Holly (20 miles away). Unsupported legend is that the widow was Betsy Ross. More likely explanation, Von Donop did not like Col Rall.

    1 Jan 1732 Born is Col Carl Von Donop. A Hessian officer who fought for at Battle of Long Island, Battle of Harlem Heights, Battle of Iron Works Hill & Fort Mercer/Red Bank. Killed in action at Red Bank in 1777.

    I escaped, but despite my best efforts could not recover General Montgomery's body. He was a big man. For some reason Trumbull painted my friend Matthias Ogden instead of me. Matt was wounded.
