Was he a vicar, in Cornwall maybe? I'm a bit vague there.
I remember reading his stuff on BBC Micro adventure games like Level 9. I even contributed some material that he had printed back then. A few letters back and forth

Techniques for puzzle-solving, mapping strategies, etc. Tons of examples from actual games.
