"The company only allows us to borrow helmets, goggles and some surgical masks. I know some drivers who felt unwell after inhaling tear gas and took some leave days. The company said it would arrange a counselling hotline, I think they will also receive some supermarket coupons"
He says many MTR staff silently support the protesters, but the public may not know this. He mentions a driver who violated company rules by refusing to open train doors at Prince Edward on August 31, even when a police officer pressed the emergency switch
The staffer now says he plans to change jobs, even though joining MTR was a dream come true. He recalls the sadness he felt when he went home one evening in his uniform and was asked by some young people on the street: "Are you all totally serving the police and the regime?"
