Inbox: @EleanorNorton wants marijuana to be displayed at the U.S. Botanic Garden. (Gotta admit, this wasn’t on my daily journalism Bingo card.)

They’re making a Freaky Friday movie sequel but it is NOT either of the far weirder book sequels which is a disappointment

For the record, the initial pitch that became this film was saying “God of Cookery, but old west”

There’s always that one annoying group at the high school reunion who won’t stop talking about the evil cosmic entity they killed as kids

I remember when I kept seeing memes about midwesterners saying “ope” and I was like what is this. I’ve never said this in my life. Then I saw a video of someone saying “ope” in context and I was like OH I SAY THIS EVERY DAY

I can stream my Swedish rock station in the browser but I would like the app

If an app from the iPhone store is not available in your region, a) is there any way to get around it like a VPN or something and b) is there any point if it’s a streaming thing that will possibly lock up anyway

Talking about Tampopo to people who haven’t seen Tampopo to impress them: truly amazing way to bring Kurosawa’s themes into modern ideals

I don’t care about this except to say, as always, if you feel the need to have a foreign film you’ve seen to name drop, just watch Tampopo. Trust me on this

There are birds nesting in the eave of the neighbors’ roof and he will cry until he gets put on the windowsill. I put a cushion on the back of the chair I’m sitting in here and he can JUST get up himself now

I know the new Ted Lasso just came out today so all I’m going to say is the Ted referencing “the American Office” is a sign of growth. Also catch Trent’s impeccable tees
(It plays a part in explaining the movie, which is very much about looking at art)

But like if you aren’t ready for a movie that has a 15 minute scene that is a museum guide talking to a tour group about Bruegel,

Here’s the thing: it was really more fun to be a nerd when you had your circle of weirdoes you went and saw movies with. I like that stuff too. But then it got too big and movies for normal adults are suffering and it may be a long time before it resets
