Largest crowdfund in history is now a smart contract (TheDAO: $120m). Already incomprehensible to most, technology change is accelerating.

.@aantonop if there is a big dump on ETH/BTC, will "TheDAO" become the second largest crowdfund in history? What's the real number ?

@arthurbouquet "Real" value? If there is a big dump in EUR/USD, will it become the largest fund again? There's no absolute value metric

@aantonop for me the "real" value (atm) is "10.72 M ETH" which is *approximately* $120m but it's differant than a regular $120m funding !

@arthurbouquet That's because you have decided to measure value on USD as if it is an immovable standard, which USD is not.

@aantonop I didn't decided anything... I'm not part of people advertising or saying that TheDao has raised $120m ;-)

@aantonop Its an impressive feat but its hard to compare it against the other crowdfunded products as its a fund, not a specific product

@Okopipi1 @aantonop people who funded do get a product. They get a DAO token.

@aantonop There's a crypto divide splitting the world in half between decentralized adopters and the "Old World"

@aantonop its a huge risk and testing for ETH and the DAO idea but without risk there is no reward!! i think 1-2 years till we see results

@aantonop 1- Is this not similar to the Maidsafe altcoin ipo? 2- any clear explanation of why DAO is something else that a NXT with hype? Ty

@aantonop @TaylorGerring only problem with the DAO is we are measuring funds raised against that repugnant and redundant 'reserve currency'.

@aantonop they are buying their own voting rights that they can withdraw unilaterally, crowdfunding is used pretty loosely, interesting tho

@Buddhamangler @aantonop if voting is the result of Ether paid to The DAO, the votes are the product. ie: Crowdfunding.

@aantonop why everyone say that DAO keeps dollars when it keeps eth? Is a big difference this.
