  5. I would stop supporting the thing, and anything that glamorizes/celebrates it. Nothing (even the fun I have watching the game) is worth promoting a practice that causes agonizing health problems and the death of people. ... I assume I have an unpopular opinion on this.

Great collaboration with and colleagues. World needs more detailed/accurate primary soil property maps and more collaboration between disciplines (hydrology, soil science, climate science...).

  13. And, another important point here is that academic institutions with the strongest record of success in training and retaining African American students, i.e. historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) are seeing drop in their federal and other funding support.

  14. The rub is that if you are engaged in the DEI space, nothing above is new to you. This is a persistent problem across the academy, esp. STEM fields. So I would challenge us to think about how we go forward from here.

  19. . , this is messed up. I am sure they will say this is not intentional. But, the fact that this is the image highlighted when there are several excellent examples given in the image tab says volumes. It's freaking exhausting to frequently deal w/tired racial stereotypes!
