u can raise a dog from young, handle literally every single piece of poop it poops, be w it almost all the time and it will STILL have a Secret Life of Dog. an interiority u have no access to. frustrated dog owners who don’t “get” their bad behavior

it’s the same w children. the parents assume a similar 100% understanding even though the actual synchronization is often far less. just like w dogs, they assume “I HATE YOU!” never occurs

bc of the guilt of being raised this also is never directly said except in the most broken of families but any relationship necessarily has these misunderstandings and extremes of emotions. ESPECIALLY intimate ones

a lot of bad behavior imo is due to not recognizing these “i hate you” signals. wanting a toy, wanting to go out, the frustrations that build up from not getting these can get explosive even if they seem trivial

adults tend to have a lifetime of experience repressing themselves so they don’t see it as a big deal. but to the immature entity it is JUST as important as say… being denied the right to see your dying parents, or visit your hole country, or called your preferred name

because this anger is never recognized the entire relationship feels “off” just like if west and east were swapped on a compass. “oh you must be sleepy or hungry or cranky” “no mfer!! im fucking ANGRY!! DO SOMETHING about my anger!!”
