imagine a prison. except you can save cost by eliminating amenities like an exercise yard, steel bars, guards, etc... instead you get the inmates to lock themselves in of their own free will, shave their heads, give you all their possessions and just sit doing nothing all day
it's high risk high reward though. the profit margins are incredibly high because you literally don't have to do anything but occasionally some will literally go "i am my own jailer!!!" and then leave never to come back but that's okay b/c you already took all their stuff
