a dislike of bargaining and illegible prices indicates a high class mentality (even if one has no money) it exposes a lack of understanding of "true" price that takes into account reality (thus a resentment at having to consider the price of anything at all)

the middle class in america is an interesting pseudo high class that doesn't aspire to price blindness, but *does* aspire for a certain scripted lifestyle and desires it regardless of price. it's still an "i deserve blah blah blah" but a more bounded blah blah blah

a mismatch between actual assets and mentality creates a sense a guilt at having not enough money a strange resentment towards both the rich who have what they want and the poors that one strives to step away from yet are stuck with
