4/ They think "How could he win? I can't think of a way. It's just hopeless. I mean, of course it's the genius who will win"

5/ Why do they look down on Soma? Because if they acknowledged him, they'd be acknowledging that they themselves don't work very hard. That they don't have any drive, or the fighting spirit of a warrior. That they just live passively.

6/ In the end, they think that "If I can't be a genius, at least I don't want to lose to someone like him." And people respect Soma's food not because of his talent, but rather because he lives by pushing himself every day.

7/ Soma doesn't think "If I just work hard it'll definitely lead to success." Instead he thinks "If I just continue working hard, there's nothing that won't come out well in the end."

8/ The instant you start comparing yourself to others, you start losing sight of your goals. After all, there are always people who are better than you at things. There's always someone stronger, or more talented, or more beautiful out there.

9/ You can't ever get rid of those feelings of inferiority in any kind of life situation no matter how hard you work at it...so the only thing you can do is set a goal for yourself, and chasing after it.
