when rich people make a ton of money, the knee jerk reaction is that they transcended certain limitations that they shouldn't have morality and limitations are two sides of the same coin

you cannot simultaneously say "step into your power and transcend your self imposed limitations" while also preaching a universal morality

the excuse for not doing sth is almost always moral. "i don't want to be a muscle head jock" "i don't want to be a greedy rich bastard" "i don't to be a head up the ass smarty pants" "i don't want to be cold hearted" "i don't want to forget my roots"

to poke at limitations is to poke at morality, things that are too sacred to poke at e.g. imagine the awkwardness of trying to integrate "well, the japanese do it, i don't see why we can't take a bath together"https://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1400228027246678020 …

the idea here isn't that preaching morality is "bad". it's that creating situations where others are powerless gives them only one recourse. to cast away all morality for supreme power in a last ditch effort for dignity (post wwi germany style)
