similarly, in a social group, individuals agree to see each other as they want to be seen. the "liquidity" being provided is delegated decision making. e.g. certain individuals are chosen as "leaders" making decisions along different frontshttps://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1407761080512704515 …

as long as everyone agrees that everyone else is rich, then everyone IS rich because there's no one to question the numbers the provider of liquidity however has to face reality. it can no longer provide money if the assets it has as collateral go down in value

e.g. in a startup, the original group is composed of a mediocre engineer, finance, business, designer, marketer, etc... they each agree to call each other "Chief of Blah" and make mediocre decisions into the future

if they do become successful (due to perhaps a unique thesis involving the future) there is a certain point where the mediocrity of the original founding team is no longer sufficient with the higher stakeshttps://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1407435725960749058 …

"i don't use a framework i just put together what makes sense" *looks at the code* *quits* the moral of the story is. if you don't know what your framework is then you ARE the framework (and no one wants to be THAT intimate w u)

a liquidity crisis here is when the decision maker just freezes up and either doesn't make decisions or micro-manages some inconsequential busywork the result is a cascading "what do i do" across the organization similar to a wide eyed doe about to get hit by a car

in "spiritual" settings, the mutually affirmed identities are homogenous in nature "all is one, all is love" the "liquidity" being provided is a source of love or meaning. individuals who provide greater love/meaning/positivity are accorded more respect and influence

this can get weird b/c providing love/meaning/positivity is very easy to fake, even more so than a net worth valued in cat paintings or the leadership proficiency of a founder ceo

if everyone is implied to be enlightened and thus a source of infinite love, meaning, and positivity, then why does the group even have a hierarchy of value? also, if everyone can produce their own love, meaning, and positivity, why is it traded like a good?

a hallmark of cults is that they try to escape a system that is cruel because it forces them to confront reality money is the token that facilitates exchange in reality so to fight this they instead use love as an alternative token

every single individual can infinitely print their own brand of love currency so everyone is infinitely wealthy at least nominally however in practice, using twitter as an example, a retweet or like is not of equal value. the originator of the retweet/like matter a LOT

this creates illegible trade dynamics. if i believe that my like or retweet is worth X and that someone else is a nobody whose like is worth one tenth of that, then every "equal" interaction actually builds a debt of resentment

something like "i retweeted your stuff and got u 100 likes and 10 new followers now you should do sth similar for me" only works if all parties involved AGREE that the love currency of everyone is equally valid

this doesn't work in practice as every group has a north korea equivalent whose love currency no one values a group that affirms every as equally valid thus has to be exclusionary and expel deviants that aren't conforming (like the EU would like to do w/ greece)

this means that while the group legally must say that everyone's currency is equally valuable, in practice the gatekeeping causes homogenization via constant pegging e.g. if 100 yen is equal to 1 dollar u could theoretically just only use dollars

there is leeway and flexibility of course... notice how the currency "manipulations" of countries tend to resemble in-group squabbles over status hierarchy everyone is trying to get their currency to be worth more

the only way to break the law of equivalent exchange is to get each token to return much more in return. higher levels in a layer cake allow each retweet/comment/like to harvest much more engagement in return by amplifying the unique value addhttps://twitter.com/a_yawning_cat/status/1399950560384622593?s=20 …

the more layers you create, the more leveraged your everyday actions because you cause can cause massive status cascades leaving the lower levels scrambling to find a new equilibrium or even looking for a new job/group

the point of this thread is that all hierarchies with their levels of cascading exponential amplification are fake the projected images have a huge gap just like one must imagine that hot girl or lambo man must have a significantly interiority than ugly girl and poor boy

similarly one imagines that the interiority of someone who has been deemed enlightened must be significantly different that the interiority of someone who is depressed and angry and sad and pitiful all the time

however, when i sat a top the great cat towers of giza, looking down on the great pharaohs and peasants, i saw that they were all the same hoomans, born with their one single pathetic life pop out crying and confused, flail about for a few decades, and then die
