how good do u have to draw to identity as an artist? how much do u have to write to identity as a writer? how far do u have to run to identify as a runner? how much do you have to BE to identify as yourself?

the desire to tell society to tell you who you are can lead to self mutilation as an act of defiant control. either through starving yourself or mutilating yourself in some other form

it only makes sense when the tangible credential actually has something useful that comes with it. being “senior” for example comes with a higher salary. being “pro” allows you to join exclusive circuits and events

thus the idea of “identifying as myself” makes about as much sense as C++ code having a pointer that points to the programmer
