individuality is not about emphasizing a specific chosen identity (as identity fluctuates) but about degree of dependency on group support to maintain an identity

it is also not about having NO environmental support whatsoever and doing things in a masochistic manner. support can make things a LOT easier it’s about not NEEDING group support

e.g. the individual who can start a small business or homestead off the land often rises higher in the business world than someone else who cannot there is no fear of homelessness that limits and keeps one stuck in a prescribed role

the surface level appearance is the same, but bc the foundational root is different the “force” exerted has entirely different characteristics the difference of “in the world” vs “of the world”

a factory union that mutually supports each other and gets rid of its executive class b/c the line workers know how to produce the widgets w/o oversight can survive for a while. but unless they can pivot business when needed they will die when shocks inevitably come
