How do you know that you're worshiping God, and not worshiping "worship of God"?
one points, the other points to the pointer. direct worship is not superior just like a reminder is not superior to the reminder of the reminder (in both cases, it was not “important” enough to not need reminding)

I think our saving grace is that we can't ever successfully point directly at the exact totality of God -- *and we're not expected to.* "God can hear the groaning of your attempts to pray properly, so just fucking pray" -- it's like on-the-job training.
